Family-Centered Transition Planning


Research demonstrates the effectiveness of Family-Centered Transition Planning in increasing student and parent expectations for adult life, student career decision-making, and student participation in employment and post-secondary education. Join us to learn sustainable processes for implementing a Family-Centered Transition Planning model for youth and young adults with autism spectrum disorders.

Alan Kurtz, M.Ed., is Coordinator of Education and Autism at the University of Maine Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies. Alan is a co-author of “Quality Employment Practices for Supporting Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders” and the lead author of the Maine Employment Curriculum.

David Hagner, Ph.D. is Research Professor with the UNH Institute on Disability. He has over 25 years experience in training, direct service, and research related to vocational rehabilitation for individuals with disabilities and is the author of several books and articles related to workplace inclusion and workplace culture.
